Getting Lost with Randy
Howdy Folks!
It has been awhile since I've been able to communicate with you all due to a series of events
from being 'red flagged' by Google due to 'dangerous content' where the only 'danger' that I, or
any of my followers could conclude, was my topics of interest not being that of the common
mentalities, nor, the accepted status quo. Thus, they censored my independent freedom of
speech, ultimately ended my postcard picture album & travel diary documentation.
The topics I choose to address have been described to me as those of an investigative societal
critic speaking to inspire positive change to a sustainable world of all encompassing wellbeing.
The topics were those of independence, freedoms, challenging all authorities including the
government, religions, standardized schooling, Western Medicine, big corporations,
pharmaceutical & so on. I provided links to the classic writers & thinkers like Tolstoy, Ayn Rand,
Tesla, Che Guevara, Homer, Muir, Poe, Jacques Fresco, Walden, Adam Smith, Whitman & the
like, often with links to inspirational quotes that influenced my childhood development & I felt
inspired & complimented my messages.
I'm hoping to tackle & provide many of these again via my website/blog just created with the
same name in gettinglostwithrandy.com that will be a work in progress for a brief period as it is
under construction. We shall see where Getting Lost with Randy lead me, us, this time & I will
link the site here when it is up & running. I just hope if you choose to read any of it that the
topics allow you to self reflect to challenge preconceived notions you might have had to invoke
personal change to then, maybe, if we're lucky, change the world for the betterment of all who
dwell upon this planet.
It lay in hibernation up unto this point when I decided to add my adventurous travels to my
business Creative Minds website. Even though all of my 4 years of work was lost, so to speak, I
was better for having lived & lost it than never to have known it at all. Everything changes,
everything stays the same, nothing is truly lost, nor, is anything truly owned, for all is borrowed,
temporary & our mortality is fleeting...awaken, open your eyes to see differing possibilities.
How fortuitous that Getting Lost with Randy ended up actually Getting Lost; ah, the irony of
random happenchance occurrences to keep the creative juices flowing as it is currently being
reborn; ebb & flow. Viewing the world continuously in awe & wonder, I choose to endlessly
wander in pondering the yonder, as yesterday's are nothing more than tomorrow's future
adventures in memories of upcoming experiences just waiting to happen in stories I've yet to tell.
A lot has happened since my last post after I decided to put my cross country motorcycling
adventures on hold for awhile. Hum, where to begin...I got lost collecting vinyl for 2 years &
have happily obtained over 15,000 records that I hunted for at local discount & thrift stores. As
they say, one's trash, another's treasure & this, my friends, is & has been, nothing but a
wonderful treasure to share! Fittingly so, for I've cleaned & mended, if needed, all the records
in my collection for optimum audio enjoyment. I continued by storing them in a controlled cooler
air environment & in plastic tubs with lids to keep them preserved to the best of my ability.
I've chosen to call this collection my 'vaulted time capsules of musical history', which has also
been archived in alphabetical & chronological order of a menagerie of genres & musical artists,
making for a kaleidescope of possibilities. I sometimes celebrate this collection with family &
friends via evening gatherings for our listening pleasure, often accompanied by a bonfire, food
& other preferred party favors & flavors. However, as for me, a preferred reclusive soloist, I
prefer most of appreciative listening to be experienced alone. For it's not just a collection to be
forgotten about or to gather dust as I start every morning by gently placing the needle to the
record morning, noon & continue the spinning throughout the evening hours. To me, it's about
enjoying my chosen simple pleasures routinely that elevate & continually enhance my reality.
I've always been one to celebrate the 'good old days' of vintage retro, old school ways & days
filled with wonderful memories, some lazy, some active, some hazy, all, always interactive. To
me there's just something about being able to bring back to reality my childhood, young at
heart innocence & cherished memories like sitting around for hours & listening to records that
we choose to listen to. From flipping through the collection, to picking out the choices based on
mood, to physically handling the vinyl, to admiring the album artwork, reading the inner liner
notes in lyrics, stories, biographies in being able to have complete interaction with my media of
choice. Most importantly, actually listening to the true artistry in concept that the musician was
trying to convey by listening to a full half or the full album in its entirety, not what a paid DJ is
told to play through commercialization of only one or two songs from the album. Thus, we are
our own DJ in being able to connect entirely with the concepts intended. Truly, Getting Lost in
vinyl.
I'll speak to my love of vinyl in much more detail down the road, though for now, I feel this
sufficient. Until then, happy spinning & listening!
Let's see, I also chose to pass on my beloved steel steed to another to enjoy as I decided to
sell my 1988 Honda Gold Wing that allowed GLwR to be the experience it was; it was sad, but,
fitting for sure. It was time to get a modern steed to equal or surpass the old bike with a more
modern approach. I found an amazing, loaded, 2016 BMW K 1600 GTL, that actually chose me
when I sat on it, just like the Gold Wing.
More about this later too, until then, safe rides & adventures... rubber down!
I've also gotten back into Getting Lost in playing & writing music, in addition to listening to my
vinyl collection. Both these creative outlets have allowed for some fantastic musical journeys of
my own so far. For those musicians out there, never surrender your true passions for that of
another, for those who truly love you, will only support you, they'll never deter you, though if
they do try & deter you, your decision is up to you. But, just remember, you are not only you,
but too, the company you keep.
Well, this intro page is just a start as I'm finding myself needing to reacquaint myself with my
Creative Minds, Inc., website program. Just another great Getting Lost with Randy journey, as
my life has always been filled with entertaining interests. Getting Lost within each to my heart's
content, then, moving onto another, though making sure to regularly celebrate all that has
been learned & become a part of my life on all the Getting Lost journeys along the way.
Until next time, peace & love, awaken...
